Happy 2007

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Welcome to 2007. Last year I was rather quiet here. But that is changing as we ready and exciting new line for 2007.
Unfortunately with the worldwide increase in spam over the last 6 months, our customer service email address changed. Unfortunately we discovered many automatic emails were still going out with the old email address.
If you’ve send us an email and have not heard from us, please try again. We’ve just deleted 6,000 spam messages to our old customer service address and a few of them may have been legitimate.

Some days it feels like all I do is fix problems and they have nothing to do with providing cool products and hot service. And today it feels like the only time I update our fans is when we have problems.

My 2007 New Year’s Resolution is to update this blog twice a month so you know what we’re up to.

Ziggy’s Warehouse never sends unsolicited email, I hate spam too.

Regards

Paul

Upgrading Ziggy’s online store

September 25, 2006 on 10:13 pm | In Technical | No Comments

Over the last few months an increasing percentage of orders at our online store have not been processed by our software. We have tracked down the source of this problem and are fixing it as we speak. Unfortunately it means we cannot process any orders for a week.

The good news is when the store comes back online, we’ll be launching a new range for the home and garden.

See you next week.

Sydney in The Top 15 Skylines in the World v3.0

April 10, 2006 on 11:47 am | In Unforgettable experiences | No Comments

Congratulations to Sydney for making Luigi Di Serio’s 15 Best Skylines in the World.

Australia’s showcase city, Sydney has one of the most recognizable skylines due to its world-famous harbour, often referred to as the most beautiful natural harbour in the world. The Sydney Harbour has many bays, inlets and secondary harbours. It is spanned by the monumental Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House decorates the shoreline like a white flower. The Sydney skyline is world-class with hundreds of skyscrapers in the central business district and many more high-rise buildings in the outlying neighbourhoods. Sydney has 8 buildings over 200 metres tall.

Take a moment, a day or a weekend to enjoy the Sydney skyline with one of our unique experiences.

Google giveth and Google taketh away

September 21, 2005 on 10:01 am | In Ziggy's way | 1 Comment

I occassionally check the Google pagerank of this site. If you don’t know what that is then the rest of this entry is not very interesting. It’s been as high as 4 but regularly drops to 0. The first time it happened my heart sank. “What have we done wrong?” I thought.

I think the various changes to the layout and catalog have not helped. As an online retailer we have to tinker and get things working optimally.

After a few times I stopped worrying about it. Either we have good pagerank or we don’t. As long as we provide good service our customers will keep coming back.

Spring update

September 7, 2005 on 12:53 pm | In Ziggy's way | No Comments

We’ve moved our warehouse and our offices over August.

I’m sorry to say it broke lots of our systems. We’ve really made a mess of things. Our web forms stopped sending emails to us. Many of our email addresses just stopped working.

The warehouse order processing system also broke. That means accounts processed some orders that were not dispatched in our normal timely manner.

I was even locked out of the system that lets me make these updates.

The end result is if you have placed an order but not received an email every 48 hours until delivery, it probably means your order was affected by our moving chaos.

I really apologise for this. If you want to cancel your order just email or comment here with your order number.

Let me know by either commenting here or sending an email - all our email addresses should be working again.

Live 8 List

July 3, 2005 on 1:42 am | In Ziggy's way | No Comments

I forgot to mention, please add your name to the Live 8 List to petition the G8 and other world leaders.

Actually here’s the text of the petition.

TO:

The 8 most powerful leaders in the world

50,000 people are dying, needlessly, every day of extreme poverty.

At this year’s G8 summit meeting, it is within your power to put an end to this tragedy. It is an extraordinary opportunity which it would be shameful to ignore. We urge you to take these 3 steps to make extreme poverty history…

1. double the aid sent to the world’s poorest countries,
2. fully cancel their debts,
3. change the trade laws so that they can build their own future.

Watch Live 8 now

July 3, 2005 on 1:31 am | In Ziggy's way | No Comments

30,000 children die every day in Africe because of poverty. We’re hoping you’ve seen something about the global awareness concert Bob Geldolf, Bono and some friends have put together. If you were wondering it’s called Live 8.

It’s on Fox 8 right now. You can also watch Live 8 Live on the internet.

While this has nothing to do with Ziggy’s Warehouse, we are part of the community and so believe in using resources to give back.

Surely forgiving the debt of the poorest countries in the world would make the world a better place. Please comment below if you agree or disagree. I guess I’m asking should small businesses make global social and political stands? Remember you can ask for your to not be published.
